Hebrew old testament translation Exodus 1:13-20

 Exodus 1: 13-20

13.  וַיַּעֲבִדוּ מִצְרַיִם אֶת־בְּנֵי יִשְֹרָאֵל בְּפָרֶךְ׃

וַיַּעֲבִדוּ – verb, hifil, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, plural, root word- עָבַד, to serve

Translation- Egyptians made the sons of Israel to serve rigorously. 


14.  וַיְמָרְרוּ אֶת־חַיֵּיהֶם בַּעֲבֹדָה קָשָׁה בְּחֹמֶר וּבִלְבֵנִים וּבְכָל־עֲבֹדָה בַּשָּדֶה אֵת כָּל־עֲבֹדָתָם אֲשֶׁר־עָבְדוּ בָהֶם בְּפָרֶךְ׃

וַיְמָרְרוּ –verb, Piel, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, plural, root word- מָרַר, meaning- to be bitter

עָבְדוּ – Qal, perfect, 3rd person, common, plural, root word- עָבַד, meaning- to serve

Translation- and they made lives bitter with hard bondage, in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field, all their service, in which they made them serve harshly.


15.   וַיּאֹמֶר מֶלֶךְ מִצְרַיִם לַמְיַלְּדֹת הָעִבְרִיּת אֲשֶׁר שֵׁם הָאַחַת שִׁפְרָה וְשֵׁם הַשֵּׁנִית פּוּעֲה׃

וַיּאֹמֶר  - Qal, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, singular, root word- אָמַר, meaning-  to say 

לַמְיַלְּדֹת – Piel, participle, feminine, plural, root word- יָלַד, meaning- to bear

Translation- the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, one of which named Shiphrah and other was Puah.

 

16.  וַיּאֹמֶר בְּיַלֶּדְכֶן אֶת־הָעִבְרִיּוֹת וּרְאִיתֶן עַל־הָאָבְנָיִם אִם־בֵּן הוּא וַהֲמִתֶּן אֹתוֹ וְאִם־בַּת הִיא וָחָיָה׃

וַיּאֹמֶר – Qal, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, singular, root word- אָמַר, meaning- to say

בְּיַלֶּדְכֶן – Piel, infinitive, 2nd person, feminine, plural, root word- יָלַד, meaning- to bear

וּרְאִיתֶן – Qal, perfect, 2nd person, feminine, plural, root word- רָאָה, meaning- to see

וַהֲמִתֶּן – Hifil, perfect, 2nd person, feminine, plural, root word- מוּת, meaning- to die

Translation- and he said, “When you help the Hebrew women in giving birth, and see upon the birth stool, if it is son, you shall kill him, and if it is daughter, then she shall live.


17.   וַתִּירֶאןָ הַמְיַלְּדֹת אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִים וְלאֹ עָשֹוּ כַּאֲשֶׁרִ דִּבֶּר אֲלֵיהֶן מֶלֶךְ מִצְרָיִם וַתְּחַיֶּיןָ אֶת־ הַיְלָדִים׃

וַתִּירֶאןָ –Qal, imperfect, 3rd person, feminine, plural, root word- יָרֵא, meaning- to fear

הַמְיַלְּדֹת – Piel, participle, feminine, plural, root word- יָלַד, meaning- to bear

עשֹוּ – Qal, perfect, 3rd person, common, plural, root word- עָשָֹה, meaning- to do, make

דִּבֶּר – Piel, perfect, 3rd person, masculine, singular, root word- דָבַר, meaning- to speak 

וַתְּחַיֶּיןָ – Piel, imperfect, 3rd person, feminine, plural, root word- חָיָה , meaning- to live

Translation- But the midwives feared God, and have not done as the king of Egypt commanded to them, and they saved the boys. 


18.    וַיִּקְרָא מֶלֶךְ־מִצְרַיִם לַמְיַלְּדֹת וַיּאֹמֶר לָהֶן מַדּוּעַ עֲשִֹיתֶן הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה וַתְּחַיֶּיןָ אֶת־הַיְלָדִים׃

וַיְּקְרָא – qal, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, singular, root word- קָרָא, meaning- to call

לַמְיַלְּדֹת – piel, participle, feminine, plural, root word- יָלַד, meaning- to bear

וַיּאֹמֶר – Qal, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, singular, root word- אָמַר, meaning- to say

עֲשִֹיתֶן – Qal, perfect, 2nd person, feminine, plural, root word- עָשַֹה, meaning- to do

וַתְּחַיֶּיןָ –piel, imperfect, 2nd person, feminine, plural, root word- חָיָה, meaning-  to live

Translation- and king Egypt called to the midwives and said to them, “why have you done this thing, and saved the male children.

  

19.   וַתּאֹמַרְןָ הַמְיַלְּדֹת אֶל־פַּרְעֹה כִּי לאֹ כַנָּשִׁים הַמִּצְרִיֹּת הָעִבְרִיֹּת כִּי־חָיוֹת הֵנָּה בְּטֶרֶם תָּבוֹא אֲלֵהֶן הַמְיַלֶּדֶת וְיָלָדוּ׃

וַתּאֹמַרְןָ – Qal, imperfect, 3rd person, feminine, plural, root word- אָמַר, meaning- to say

הַמְיַלְּדֹת – piel, participle, feminine, plural, root word- יָלַד, meaning- to bear

תָּבוֹא – Qal, imperfect, 3rd person, feminine, singular, root word- בּוֹא, meaning-  to come in

הַמְיַלֶּדֶת – Piel, participle, feminine, singular, root word- יָלַד, meaning- to bear

וְיָלָדוּ – Qal, perfect, 3rd person, common, plural, root word- יָלַד, meaning- to bear

Translation- and the midwives said to Pharaoh that the Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women because they are lively, before they come to them to deliver they give birth.


20. וַיֵּיטֶב אֱלֹהִים לַמְיַלְּדֹת וַיִּרֶב הָעָם וַיַּעַצְמוּ מְאֹד׃

וַיֵּיטֶב – Hiphil, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, singular, root word- יָטַב, meaning-  good 

לַמְיַלְּדֹת – Piel, participle, feminine, plural, root word- יָלַד, meaning- to bear

וַיִּרֶב – Qal, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, singular, root word- רָבָה, meaning- multiply 

וַיַּעַצְמוּ – Qal, imperfect, 3rd person, masculine, plural, root word- עָצַם, meaning- mighty

Translation- so the God dealt good to the midwives and multiplied the people and they become very mighty.

Hebrew old testament translation genesis 1:1-10

 Gen- 1:1

1. בְּרֵאשִׁית בָּרָא אֱלֹהִים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ׃

בְּרֵאשִׁית  in the beginning 

 בָּרָא created (Qal perfect 3rd person masculine singular of בָרָא create)

 אֱלֹהִים God 

 אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם the heavens

 וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ and the earth

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

2. וְהָאָרֶץ הָיְתָה תהוּ וָבֹהוּ וְחֹשֶׁךְ עַל־פְּנֵי תְהוֹם וְרוּח אֱלּהִים מְרַחֶפֶת עַל־פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם׃

וְהָאָרֶץ and the earth

 הָיְתָה was (Qal perfect 3rd person feminine singular of הָיָה was)

 תהוּ formless

 וָבֹהוּ and void

 וְחֹשֶׁךְ and darkness

 עַל־פְּנֵי over the face

 תְהוֹם of the deep

 וְרוּח and the spirit

 אֱלּהִים of God

 מְרַחֶפֶת was moving (Piel participle feminine singular of רָחַף shake/move)

 עַל־פְּנֵי over the face

 הַמָּיִם׃ of the waters

And the earth was formless and void and darkness over the face of the deep and the spirit of God was moving over the face of the water.



3. וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי אוֹר וַיְהִי־אוֹר׃

וַיֹּאמֶר and said (Qal imperfect 3rd person masculine singular with wow consecutive of אָמַר to say) 

 אֱלֹהִים God

 יְהִי        let there be (Qal imperfect jussive 3rd person masculine singular of הָיָה he was)

 אוֹר        light

 וַיְהִי־ and there was (Qal imperfect 3rd person  masculine singular with wow consecutive of הָיָה he was)

אוֹר         light 


And God said, “Let there be light” and there was light. 


4. וַיַּרְא אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָאוֹר כִּי־טוֹב וַיַּבְדֵּל אֱלֹהִים בֵּין הָאוֹר וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁךְ׃

6. וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים יְהִי רָקִיעַ בְּתוֹךְ הַמָּיִם וִיהִי מַבְדִּיל בֵּין מַיִם לָמָיִם׃


וַיֹּאמֶר and said (Qal imperfect 3rd person masculine singular with wow consecutive of אָמַר to say

 אֱלֹהִים God 

 יְהִי let there be (Qal imperfect jussive 3rd person masculine singular of הָיָה he was)

 רָקִיעַ a dome

 בְּתוֹךְ in the midst

And the God said, “Let there be a dome in the midst of the water and let it divide between water and in the waters.”



7. וַיַּעַשׂ אֱלֹהִים אֶת־הָרָקִיעַ וַיַּבְדֵל בֵּין הַמַּיִם אֲשֶר מִתַּחַת לָרָקִיעַ וּבֵין הַמַּיִם אֲשֶׁר מֵעַל לָרָקִיעַ וַיְהִי־כֵן׃

וַיַּעַשׂ so made (Qal imperfect 3rd person masculine singular with wow consecutive of  עָשָׂהto do /make)

 אֱלֹהִים God 

 אֶת־הָרָקִיעַ the dome

אֱלֹהִים God 

 יִקָּווּ let be gathered together (Niphal imperfect 3rd person masculine plural of קָוָה gather)

 הַמַּיִם the waters

 אֶחָד one

Και ὁτε ἐγενετο κατα μονας, ἠρωτων αὐτον οἱ περι αὐτον συν τοις δωδεκα τας παραβολας.

Blessed are you when they might revile you and they might persecute and might say all kinds of evil against you [falsely/wrongfully] because of me.

Matthew 5:12

Rejoice and glad for your reward is great in to the heavens; thus for they persecuted the prophets before you.

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt becomes tasteless, in it what will be salted? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown and trampled by humans.
