Hebrew translation psalms no 121: 1-8 and 128 :1-6 with verb pursing and textual notes


 

Psalms 121 
Verse 1

Parsing

aF'äa, – 1st common sing. of Qal imperfect, root word af'n"" – to lift.

aboïy" – 3rd Masc. Sing. of Qal Imperfect, root word aAB – to come.

1a. tAlï[]M;ñl in the A reading of one or Several Hebrew manuscript from the Qumran and Several Manuscript prefix MH; like verse 122:1 which reads tAlª[]M;h;(

1b yrI)z>[, in Syriac version reads m‘drnj which is equivalent with yrI)z>[o “help”

Song of Ascent: I will lift up my eyes to the Hills from where comes my help?

hfeª[ – Masculine sing. of Qal participle, root word hf'["" – to make.

My help will come from the Yahweh maker of heaven and earth.

Parsing

!TEåyI-la – Adverb, 3rd Masculine sing. of Qal Imperfect, root word !t;n" – to give.

~Wn©y"÷-la – Adverb, 3rd Masculine sing. of Qal Imperfect, root word ~Wn – to slumber.

^r<)m.vo – Masc. Sing. of Qal participle, 2nd masc. suffix, root word rm;v' – to keep.

3a jAMål is to be read jAMål; “to be slipped”

3b ^l<+g>r in multiple manuscript reads ^ylgr reads feet (in plural)

He will not allow your foot to be moved, he who keep you will not slumber.

~Wn©y"÷-al – Part. negative, 3rd Masculine sing. of Qal Imperfect, root word ~Wn – to slumber.

!v"+yyI – 3rd Masc. Sing of Qal imperfect, root word !vey"– to sleep.

rmeªAv o – Masc. Sing. of Qal participle, root word rm;v' – to keep.

Behold neither shall he slumber nor sleep, he who is keeping Israel

5b ^r<+m.vo here is put in Septuagint and Targum as verse 7 which reads ^lylb “he will keep you”

5c hw"ïhy is absent in the A reading of one or Several Hebrew manuscript from the Qumran

Yahweh is your keeper, Yahweh is your shade, your right hand.

Verse 6

hK'K,ªy:-al o – Part. Negative, 3rd Masc. Sing. of Hiphil imperfect, 2nd Masc suffix, root word hk'n" ' – to smite.

By day the shall not strike you; nor the moon by night.

Verse 7

Yahweh shall keep you from all evil; he shall preserve your life.

%leªhoh;÷ – Interrogative, Masc. sing of Qal Participle, root word %l;h" – to walk.

A song of ascend; Happy is everyone who fears Yahweh and who walks in his way

Verse 2

`%l") bAjåw> ^yr<ªv.a;÷ lke_ato yKiä ^yP,K;â [:ygIåy>

Parsing

lke_at – 2nd Masc. sing of Qal Impertfect, root word lk;a' – to eat.

Textual notes

2a yKiä is missing in Septuagint maybe due to haplography.

When you eat the labour of your hands you shall be happy and it shall be well with you.

Verse 3

Parsing

éhY"rIPo –Masc. sing of Qal participle, root word hr'P' – to bear fruit.

Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very hearts of your house and your children like olive plants all around your table

Verse 4

5a !AYðCiñmi perhaps words are excluded

Yahweh will bless you from Zion, may you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life
